AVPL i heard was a film that itself was very average but was elevated solely by Allu Arjun ‘s swaggy performance and terrific songs including my and everyone’s favourite Butta Bola.
So when you decide to remake an average film , you need someone to elevate it to be a good entertaining watch. Sadly , Kartik is not any Allu Arjun. Kartik is charming no doubt but Allu Arjun possess charm and swag (something that in the early last decade Salman bhai possessed), and this swag Kartik doesn’t posses to carry mass entertainer .
You can easily see he does the bulk of the heavy lifting in this film. He’s smiling almost the whole film and trying to deliver dialogues in his Kartik aaryan style but the thing is, the dialogues are so ordinary (written by the same man who wrote the cringy dialogues of Brahmastra) that none of them impress or leave any impact on you, except maybe a few.
Because of such poor dialogues, comedy mostly is a miss. Because of such poor comedy , actors like Paresh Rawal or Rajpal Yadav (in a cameo shorter than the bidi Kartik smokes) who once used to make us go ROFL with their presence can’t do anything in this film.
Actors like Ronit Roy are wasted yet again. Manisha Koirala is okayish but gets very little screen space. Kriti Sanon, ummmm, was she even there in the film? Idk man i forgot lol her role is so forgettable and turns out to be that typical souvenir kind of role .
Action and it’s style is very much a miss. I have seen glimpses of AVPL mass action scenes and the swag with which Allu executed them won the hearts of fans. Kartik can’t do action at all. Why do makers want to show him in this avatar is going over my head. His mass scenes are totally off. The climax action sequence in the metro hanger is so forgettable (i don’t even know what the climax in AVPL was, must be better than this atleast).
Songs. Felt like an umbrella pierced into my heart (get it?). Forget Butta boma, that’s out of reach, not even one song of Shehzada is one percent close to any song from AVPL. And all these ordinary tracks are coming from the magical composer Pritam. Hard to swallow truth. Remember last year how AR Rahman composed songs for a film like Heropanti 2 and all were flop. Even the character dheela rehash version is such a pain to the ears. They aren’t paying tribute to Salman, they are paying tribute to remakes with this remake song from own Bollywood industry.
Some good parts are there though , especially in the emotional scenes in the 2nd half and this where Kartik genuinely shines. Women objectification , which is a norm in Telugu films and present even in AVPL has been removed here and that’s very good.
Overall, this is the 3rd film i have seen from Rohit Dhawan and he again makes an average film. Even to some extent Dishoom was better . I know i shouldn’t say this but often when you see Kartik trying to give dialogues in a swaggy way, i feel he’s trying to imitate Varun Dhawan and i felt VD could have been a slightly better choice cuz he posses that swag that Kartik is not having.

Its a typical bollywood story. Two babies got exchanged at birth. Poor one got smart & Rich one is dumb. Chikna hero does extra ordinary fights. Goons expecting 500cr ransom but don’t have a single gun to fire or defend.
Kartik aryan looks good in some scenes. Actress role is very limited. Few things won’t make sense like jindal family got a huge bungalow but no driveway, (car going & coming through lawn) further the rich family has a week security or no security at all. Ronit roy looks good, manisha koirala is average & not appealing. I would rate the movie 4/10 & its a pure masala film you can go if big fan of Kartik aryan.
Shehzada might as well be called Kartik instead. It’s a Kartik Aryan show through and through. The film is made for him, by him and for his fans. Rohit Dhawan borrows from his father by remaking a hit film from South India and marrying it with North India sensibilities.
Kartik who’s also the producer of Shehzada, makes the protagonist Bantu, his own by playing himself on screen. His dry humour, slapstick comic timing and mischief defines a considerable body of work done by him in his past films. This is no different.
Kriti Sanon looks effortlessly gorgeous in every single frame she’s in, with little more to do than being an eye candy.
Paresh Rawal plays the antagonist with dishonest intentions and a tough father with natural flair and command. He’s a seasoned actor for a reason.
Manisha Koirala and Ronit Roy render some gravitas and dignity to their roles as the unfortunate parents. Sachin Khedekar is an endearing presence on screen as the grandfather.
The scene stealer has to be Rajpal Yadav as a confused cop who draws the maximum laughter and applause in the theatre with his signature comic timing.
Nothing much to say about the writing which is pretty average and nothing you haven’t seen before apart from some funny dialogues and quirky moments here and there.
Rohit Dhawan is still a rookie filmmaker when compared to his father who made the comedy genre his own. Will take a while to reach a certain level of credibility.
Watch this strictly for Kartik Aryan and his antics if you’re into it.
From bad acting to worse direction and even worse sense of humour, this movie challenges the odds in becoming worse than amateur youtube videos with zero profuction budget.. i was literally counting the minutes as when this horrible movie will end.. if it wasnt for the respect of my family ( who also waste thier time watchibg this nightmare) i would have left long time ago.. Bad acting, worse dialogue and even worse direction as i said earlier.. If u want to save ur valuable time dont even think of watching this movie , I was really disappointed and hopefully i will never watch any movie directed by this director who doesn’t know the ABCs of direction , the director is the son of a director and as in bollywood connections win over talent..
Bottom line dont watch this movie its a genuine advice.

Karthik Aryan is a lot of things But he’s no Allu Arjun, he’s no match to the style, swag and sass of allu, Kriti sanon is annoying and unbearable, her worst performance till date, the only reason I watched this despite having watched “Ala vaikuntapuramuloo” is because I liked them in Luka chuppi, I was thoroughly disappointed Songs are extremely bad and forgettable.
David Dhawan should definitely stop with remakes and try something different for once, If you thought coolie number 1 was his worst work till date, shehzaada has done the impossible it clearly beats cn1 to be david’s worst work.
I really enjoyed Allu Arjun’s original verson. This movie is no where close to the original version. Everything looks fake and dull.
The swag of Allu Arjun is the biggest difference in both these films and the background score didn’t suit in many scenes. Also, the villain is not shown as powerful guy in this movie whereas in the original Telungu version, villain’s character had some weightage.
Right from the start, this movie moves on weak performance and dialogues. And some of the scenes don’t even make sense especially on why should the heroine fall for the hero without adequate justification.
You make a remake and then you still ruin it. Karthik Aryan learn acting mate. How people stand you???? You are pathetic to the core. This movie lack every single thing which is required for a hit movie. Arrogance and false ego will destroy Mr. Karthik for sure. This is the beginning of your end my friend. Your over confidence have cost the producers their hard earned money. The acting in the movie is like mediocre who needs lot of learning. This movie bores you since start. Allu Arjun is way too better then you mate. Pls go and take learning from ur seniors or else you will be ruined completely.
I don’t know when film maker will bring something good . I don’t like this movie and now karthik shoul learn acting. Every time ur smile will not work . What was the story plot . Nothing. Bhai Ant man chale jao rather than this .. No music , no acting , no story . The actor whose acting was good is not mentioned anywhere. Paresh rawal , ronit Roy and Sandeep bhaiya they were good . But apart from this no logic , no sense , no comedy also. Kriti is used as dummy . Pls make good movies with this budget . You can hire good writers , dont go for publicity , do some acting work picture chalegi . Don’t watch.
